MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Wesleyan University volleyball team was honored for its excellence in the classroom recently as the Cardinals earned a 2017-18 Team Academic Award by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA).
The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.
Wesleyan concluded the 2017-18 academic year with a team GPA of 3.34. Additionally, eight Cardinals were named to the NESCAC Fall All-Academic Team earlier in the season; juniors Madeleine Lundberg and Kelsey Tam, and sophomores Olivia Guidotti, Nicole Hilton, Sophie Karolczak, Fallon Konow, Stasie Litinsky and Kaira Muraoka-Robertson.
After coming off a historic 2017 season, in which Wesleyan won its first-ever NESCAC Championship and reached the second round of the NCAA Tournament, the Cardinals will look to build off their success when they open the 2018 campaign on Friday, Sept. 7 at Ithaca (7 pm ET).
