BRUNSWICK, Maine – The tenth-ranked women's cross country team raced to an 11th place finish at the NCAA Division III New England Regional meet hosted by Bowdoin College on Saturday morning. No. 4 MIT won the meet, placing three runners in the top-15, with 10 NESCAC teams placed in the top-15 overall.
The top two teams in every region automatically qualify for the NCAA Championship meet, with 16 more at-large bids for a 32-team meet. Once the teams have been chosen, 56 additional individuals will be selected to compete.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Sara Pinsonault paced Wesleyan, completing the 6k course in 22:34.55, good for 23rd-place earning All-Region honors.
- Julia Mitchell earned All-Region accolades with her 25th-place finish, crossing the finish line just one second behind Pinsonault (22:35.68).
- Becky Lopez-Anido and Emma Trapani were third and fourth for the Cardinals, completing the course in 23:14.42 and 23:44.51, respectively.
- Abigail Pipkin and Claudia Schatz both posted person best times, crossing the finish line in 24:32.35 and 24:44.47, respectively.
