Emily Ribatt ’21, G’22 makes her return to Middletown as the former three-year team captain of the Wesleyan women’s soccer team joins the Cardinals as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for her first season in 2025.
 
Ribatt first captained the Cardinals in 2019 then during the COVID affected 2020 season and finally in 2021 when Wesleyan made a historic run to the Final Four in what was the team’s first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance. Ribatt played in 52 career games (48 starts), playing at every level of the pitch, while registering 24 career points on nine goals and six assists. She was named All-Region in 2021.
 
Emily graduated from Wesleyan with a bachelor’s degree in government and Spanish in 2021 then completed her masters in Liberal Studies with a concentration in Social Sciences in 2022.
 
After graduation, Ribatt played semi professional soccer in Spain for C.D. Samper, the third national division in the Spanish federation. She was the only non-Spanish player on the club and during her time at C.D. Samper, she helped recruit American college players to join the team.
 
While in Spain, Ribatt created a training program in Madrid for US women’s college soccer players called Madrid Universal in March 2023. With the program, she supported female college soccer players through group training sessions and built connections with semi-professional practice opportunities.
 
Starting in the summer of 2023, she served as the Afternoon Programs Coordinator, Director of Athletics, and a mathematics and computer science teacher with Brewster Madrid (grades 8-12). She founded K-12 athletics and afternoon programs in her two years with Brewster Madrid, totaling 50+ afternoon programs and two varsity sports. She also developed over 10 external partnerships for extracurricular programming.
 
Prior to Brewster Madrid, Ribatt was an English Language Teaching Assistant for IES Manuela Malasana in Spain from September 2022 through August 2203. She taught English as an employee of the Spanish Ministry of Education and prepared and taught grammar, vocabulary, and cultural lessons for grades 5-12.
