The Lead: The Wesleyan University women's volleyball team split its doubleheader Saturday, claiming a 3-0 win over Colby in its first match before falling to non-conference foe Babson, 3-0 in the second.
GAME 1
Score: Wesleyan 3, Colby 0 (25-18, 26-24, 25-18)
Records: Wesleyan (9-4, 4-3 NESCAC); Colby (4-13, 0-6 NESCAC)
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Mia Hogan '20 led Wesleyan with 10 kills, while recording a .333 hitting percentage. Nicole Hilton '20, Gabby Bennett '20 and Sarah Swenson '17 finished with nine, seven and six, respectively.
- Kaira Muraoka-Robertson '20 dished out 37 assists, and Rachel Savage '17 finished with a team-high 15 digs, while Olivia Guidotti '20 registered 14.
- Colby was led by Paige Hanssen, who finished with 16 kills and a .424 attack mark. She was the lone player in double-digit kills for the Mules. Emily Moslener led the team with 17 assists, and added 10 digs, while Erin Maidman and Hanssen finished with 15 and 13 digs, respectively.
- The win snapped Wesleyan's three-game losing streak, as the Cardinals improved to 4-3 in the NESCAC to rank fifth.
GAME 2
Score: Babson 3, Wesleyan 0 (25-15, 25-15, 25-21)
Records: Wesleyan (9-5); Babson (12-7)
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Wesleyan was led by Swenson and Hogan with six kills each.
- Muraoka-Robertson dished out a team-high 14 assists, while Audrey Konow '20 added 10, and Guidotti recorded 13 digs to lead the Cardinals.
- For Babson, Jenny Karnes led all players with 13 kills and Gizem Yilmaz added 11.
- Elizabeth Cameron dished out a game-high 39 assists, and Abby Beecher recorded 13 digs.
UP NEXT:
- The Cardinals are back in action Friday, Oct. 14 and will play at Endicott beginning at 5 p.m.
