The Lead: Nicole Brodkowitz '20 and Sarah Sylla '17 each scored as the Wesleyan University women's soccer team tied Bates College 2-2 on Saturday morning at Russell Street Field.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Brodkowitz netted her second goal of the season at 11:58 in the game to get the Cardinals out to the early 1-0 lead.
- In the second half, Sylla would score her fourth of the season as she took an Olivia Gorman '19 pass and found the back of net at 55:32 for the 2-0 advantage.
- The Bobcats would net two quick goals at 83:24 and 84:22 to tie the game at two. Olivia Amdur and Hannah Behringer scored for the home team.
- After two overtimes, the game would end in a 2-2 draw.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Bates held a slight edge in shots at 15-13 as well as corner kicks at 4-3.
- Zoe Cassels-Brown '20 got the start in net for the Cardinals and made five saves on the day.
- Gorman took three shots on net while Brodkowitz put two on net.
UP NEXT:
- The Cardinals will host Eastern Connecticut on Tuesday, September 27 at 4:30 p.m.
- Bates will return to the field tomorrow as they host Williams at 12 p.m.
