The Lead: The 24th-ranked Wesleyan University women's squash team fell to sixth-ranked Yale University Saturday afternoon, 9-0.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Laila Samy '18 played Jenny Scheri to four sets in the No. 1 position. After falling behind 2-0 (11-5, 11-7), Samy responded with an 11-8 win but was edged in the fourth set, 12-10.
- The Bulldogs swept Wesleyan in the No. 2-8 positions.
- At the top of the lineup, Abigail Smith '17 fell to Lucy Beecroft by scores of 11-2, 11-2, 11-4 in the No. 2 spot.
- In the No. 3 position, Annie Ferreira '17 lost to Celine Yeap by marks of 11-3, 11-2, 11-1, and Ali Imperiale '19 lost to Shiyuan Mao in the No. 4 spot, 11-3, 11-3, 11-2.
UP NEXT:
- The Cardinals return to the court Wednesday, Jan. 11 and will play at Bowdoin. The match is scheduled to start at 1 p.m.
- Yale is back in action Monday, Jan. 9 and will play Mount Holyoke and Amherst, at Amherst.
