The Lead: The No. 8 Wesleyan University men's tennis team extended its win streak to nine as it edged No. 20 Tufts University on the road Saturday morning, 5-4.
DOUBLES HIGHLIGHTS:
- The Cardinals picked up one win in doubles action as the No. 3 duo of Steven Chen '18 and Cameron Daniels '18 earned an 8-2 victory.
SINGLE HIGHLIGHTS:
- Wesleyan responded well in singles action and claimed 4-of-6 matches.
- At the top of the lineup, Chen cruised to wins of 6-0, 6-2.
- Joachim Samson '19 claimed No. 4 singles by scores of 6-2, 6-4, and Daniels earned a 7-5, 6-3 victory in the No. 5 position.
- Freshman Princeton Carter continues to excel in his first season with the Cardinals as he earned a 6-4, 6-1 win in No. 6 singles.
HEAD COACH MIKE FRIED:
- "The guys did a great job! We didn't play our best tennis, but to go out and beat a very good team on road without our best tennis is really gratifying."
UP NEXT:
- Wesleyan returns to the courts Wednesday, April 19 and will play at in-state rival Trinity. The match is scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m.
