The Lead: The No. 8 Wesleyan University men's tennis team cruised to a commanding 9-0 sweep over Hamilton College indoors Sunday in its first NESCAC match of the 2016-17 season.
DOUBLES HIGHLIGHTS:
- In doubles action, seniors Michael Liu and Jake Roberts won decisively in the No. 1 spot, 8-2.
- Tiago Eusebio '18 and Maxwell Smith '19 swept the No. 2 position, 8-0, and Cameron Hicks '17 and Greg Lyon '17 won 8-2 in No. 3 doubles.
SINGLE HIGHLIGHTS:
- In No. 1 singles, Steven Chen '18 won both sets by scores of 6-3, 6-2.
- Eusebio and Joachim Samson '19 cruised to wins of 6-0, 6-1 and 6-1, 6-0 in the No. 2 and No. 3 positions, respectively.
- Cameron Daniels '18 claimed No. 4 singles by scores of 6-3, 6-1.
- In the No. 5 position, Princeton Carter '20 won 8-2, and Jonathan Holtzman '20 took the No. 6 spot with a clean sweep (6-0, 6-0).
UP NEXT:
- Wesleyan is back in action Tuesday, April 4 and will host MIT in a non-conference match beginning at 3 p.m.
