The Lead: The fifth-ranked Wesleyan University men's tennis team defeated No. 18 Bates College by a score of 8-1 on Saturday afternoon.
DOUBLES HIGHLIGHTS:
- The Cardinals claimed victories in two of the three matches.
- Michael Liu '17 and Jake Roberts '17 won a hard-fought match verses Ben Rosen and Chris Ellis by a score of 9-8.
- Tiago Eusebio '18 and Maxwell Smith '19 took the No.2 position match against Pat Ordway and Adam Schwartz 8-3.
SINGLE HIGHLIGHTS:
- In No. 1 singles, Steven Chen '18 claimed a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Rosen.
- Liu notched the win in the No. 2 position, winning 6-3, 6-3 against Ellis.
- Eusebio won his match against Josh Quijano 6-2, 6-1, while Joachim Samson '19 claimed a 6-3, 7-5 win in the No. 4 spot verses Schwartz.
- In No. 5 singles, Cameron Daniels '19 defeated Ordway 6-3, 6-4
- Princeton Carter '20 played a tough match in the six position, coming out with the 7-5, 7-6 win against Jacob Kauppila.
UP NEXT:
- The Cardinals return to the court tomorrow, April 30 and will play at No. 7 Bowdoin in their 2016-17 regular season finale. The match is scheduled to start at 12 p.m.
