WATERVILLE, Maine – The 21st-ranked Wesleyan women's squash team returned to action today for its first match of 2020 and the Cardinals made the most of it as they defeated No. 24 Colby on the road, 7-2.
Saturday's match was Wesleyan's first since December 7th and it's the third-straight win for the Cardinals as they improve to 6-3 overall. The Mules fell to 1-3 after the loss but defeated Mount Holyoke later in the day.
MATCH HIGHLIGHTS:
- Colby won both matches at the top of the lineup while the Cardinals won No. 3-9.
- Valeria Osorio and Josie Russ swept the No. 3 and No. 4 positions, respectively.
- In the No. 5 slot, Natasha Feenstra rallied from a 1-0 deficit (11-7) to win three-straight sets by scores of 11-7, 11-3, 11-4.
- Nina Premutico, Sofia Melian-Morse, Annie Roach, and Emma Smith all swept their matches in the No. 6, 7, 8 and 9 spots, respectively.
UP NEXT:
- Wesleyan returns to action on Wednesday, January 15th and will compete at Franklin & Marshall. The match is scheduled to start at 5 p.m.
