PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Wesleyan wrestling team competed at the 2020 New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Dual and Individual Championships on Sunday at the Rhode Island Convention Center, while head coach Drew Black was inducted into the NEWA Hall of Fame.
As a team, Wesleyan went 1-3 on the day with a 33-18 victory over Plymouth State.
HIGHLIGHTS:
- Highlighting the tournament for the Cardinals on the mat were Tristan Stetson, Marco Gaita, and Harrison Karp.
- Stetson went a perfect 4-0 on the day at 133 with wins by sudden victory, decision, a forfeit, and technical fall.
- Gaita was also a perfect 4-0 while he wrestled at 174. He won by three decisions and a pin.
- Rounding out the top performers was Karp who finished 2-2 at 285. Both of his victories were by decision.
