Daouk Wins 125-Pound Title at Scott Viera Open

BRISTOL, R.I. – Amir Daouk was crowned the 125-pound champion on Saturday to lead the Wesleyan wrestling team at the Scott Viera Open hosted by Roger Williams. Daouk went 3-0 on the day to win the title while the Cardinals had a total of three finalists in the 10 weight classes.

TOURNAMENT HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Saturday's tournament was the first competition for Wesleyan in 2020. There was no team scoring at the event.
  • In addition to Daouk's impressive day, Tristan Stetson and Marco Gaito placed second in their respective weight classes and Greg Fischer took third.
  • Stetson went 2-1 on the day at 133.
  • Gaita finished 2-1 overall at 174.
  • Wesleyan excelled at 125 as Fischer finished third overall with another 2-1 record.

  • The Cardinals return to the mats on Friday, January 10 for the two-day Budd Whitehill National Duals hosted by Lycoming.
