WATERVILLE, Maine – The Wesleyan men's ice hockey team outscored Colby 3-0 in the second period en route to a 4-2 victory on the road Friday night.
Matt Zandi scored two goals while Walker Harris and Tyler Wyatt each scored a goal and dished out an assist as the Cardinals improved to 11-9-1 overall and 7-7-1 in the NESCAC. With the loss, the Mules are now 7-11-3 and 3-10-2.
GAME HIGHLIGHTS:
- Colby scored the first goal of the game in the first minute as Sean Holly found the back of the net with assists from Brendan Murphy and Carter Breitenfeldt.
- Wesleyan was held scoreless in the first but rallied nicely in the second period.
- In the seventh minute, the Cardinals took advantage of a power play as Zandi scored off assists from Spencer Fox and Wyatt.
- Just under seven minutes later, Wyatt gave the Cardinals the lead and three minutes after Wesleyan's second goal, Harris assisted on another score by Zandi to give the visitors some insurance.
- The Cardinals increased their lead by three in the seventh minute of the third period with a goal from Harris.
- Just over a minute later, Kienan Scott cut the deficit to two but the Mules were unable to score the rest of the way.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Wesleyan goalie Tim Sestak made 27 saves and Andrew Tucci made 18 for the Mules.
- Colby held a slight 27-22 edge in shots. The Cardinals were 1-for-3 on power plays while the Mules went 0-for-1.

- Wesleyan returns to the ice tomorrow and will play at Bowdoin. The puck is scheduled to drop at 4 p.m.
