No. 18 Women’s Soccer Wins Third Straight, Defeating Colby 5-0

Four different Cardinals scored in the 5-0 victory

WATERVILLE,ME – The No. 18 ranked Wesleyan women's soccer team dominated from start to finish in a 5-0 win over Colby College Sunday morning. The Cardinals have now gone 3-0 on the week, looking to move up the rankings before their next matchup Wednesday at Eastern Connecticut State. Wesleyan now improves to 9-1 (7-1 NESCAC), while Colby (3-6-2, 0-6-2 NESCAC) has now dropped four of their last five.

HIGHLIGHTS:
  • The scoring started early in this one, as Lina Rodriguez '24 beat the goalkeeper in the 12th minute
  • After two more shot attempts and a corner, the Cardinals put one through the net again. This time it was Audrey Lavey '23 off an assist by Dani Milovanov '23
  • Wesleyan added one final goal to their stellar first half in the 40th minute. This one came after a corner, where the ball found Ally Stanton '24 for her first goal of the contest
  • It was a lot more of the same in the second half, as the Cardinals put the pressure on immediately. They produced three corners and four shots in the first 10 minutes of the half, one of those shots ending up once again in the net. It was goal number two for Stanton, who this time was the recipient of a Remi Feuerman '22 pass
  • Wesleyan put the finishing touches on their third straight victory with goal number five coming in the 67th minute. This one was off the head of Grace Devanny '23, coming off an assist from Stanton
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Stanton doubles her point total (10) on the season with two goals and an assist this morning
  • Devanny adds another goal, giving her a team leading six on the year
  • Sarah Hammond '22 and Erin Dailey '23 combine for their 6th clean sheet of the season
  • Wesleyan has now held Colby scoreless in their last four meetings
