Game Recap: Women's Volleyball | | Brina Kuslak '22

Volleyball falls to No.10 Juniata, 3-0

HUNTINGDON, PA - Wesleyan University volleyball loses to rival and no. 10 ranked Juniata College in a 0-3 match Friday night. The tough game ended in scores of 26-28, 18-25, and 15-25. This out of conference loss puts Wesleyan at 14-3 on the season while Juniata improves to an impressive 21-1 for the season. 

 

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS: 

  • Set one was the battle of the weekend for Wesleyan going run for run against the Eagles. The aggressive Juniata offense overpowered the Cardinals and won the set 28-26

  • Juniata got an early lead in the second set quickly finding themselves up 11-4 against the Cardinals. Wesleyan came back to tie up the game 16-16, but eventually lost set two 18-25 

  • The third and final set of the match was hard fought by both teams until the Cardinals fell apart at 15-18. A string of errors across the Wesleyan side of the net ended the game in a loss of 15-25

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: 

  • The low scoring game for the Cardinals resulted in low numbers on the stat sheet. Brina Kuslak '22, Mariko Tanaka '24, and Sydney Smith '25 led the team in attacking with 8 kills, 5 kills, and 5 kills respectively 

  • Game leaders for Juniata on offense were Victoria Taylor, Kennedy Christy, and Lilly Podolan with 15 kills, 11 kills, and 10 kills respectively. Setter Olivia Foley had an impressive 42 assists and 20 digs for the Eagles

UP NEXT: 

The weekend is just beginning for Wesleyan. The team has a double header on Saturday morning against Carnegie Mellon and York College at 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM
