CLINTON, N.Y. – The Wesleyan women's squash team competed in three matches – all at Hamilton College – over the weekend. The Cardinals dropped all three matches against St. Lawrence 6-3, Hamilton 9-0 and William Smith 8-1 as Wesleyan falls to 1-3 on the season.
ST. LAWRENCE HIGHLIGHTS (6-3 loss) | RESULTS
- Wesleyan claimed victories in three matches with Annie Roach '22, Aashni Parikh '22 and Celia Penny '24 (by default) accounting for the three Cardinal points
- Roach won a thriller in five games at #6 as she posted wins in the fourth and fifth game to help spearhead her way to victory (10-12, 11-5, 8-11, 11-9, 11-6)
- Parikh made quick work of Tita Hicks at #8 as she won resoundingly in three games (11-4, 11-6, 11-2)
- Emma Smith '22 won one game at #5 while St. Lawrence swept the Cardinals in the four remaining matches (#1-4)
- Penny won by default at #9 as St. Lawrence didn't field a competitor in that match
HAMILTON HIGHLIGHTS (9-0 loss) | RESULTS
- The host Continentals took five matches by 3-0 decisions
- Portia Pliam '25 gave Hope Worcester a tough match at #3, claiming wins in the first two games but Worcester swept the remaining three games to take the match (5-11, 2-11, 14-12, 11-8, 11-8)
- Sydney Smith '25 (#4), Roach (#6) and Parikh (#8) took one game apiece in their respective matches
WILLIAM SMITH HIGHLIGHTS (8-1 loss) | RESULTS
- Penny won her second match of the weekend (first by deicison) as she toppled Kristen McCormick at #9 by a convincing margin of 11-4, 11-2, 11-4
- Parikh just missed her second win of the weekend as she took Molly Wachter to five games but ultimately lost in the very tightly-contested match (12-10, 9-11, 11-8, 7-11, 12-10)
- Carly Blue '22 won in an exhibition match at #10, sweeping the three games 11-4, 11-5, 11-4
