Men’s Hockey Drops Game to Anna Maria, 3-2

MIDDLETOWN, CT- Men's hockey drops a game to Anna Maria College Tuesday night by a score of 3-2. Wesleyan feel behind 2-0 in the 1st period before mounting a comeback over the next two periods. Tyler Levine '22 scored the equalizer early in the 3rd, however Anna Maria responded just minutes later to retake the lead. They would hold the lead the rest of the way, giving Wesleyan their 4th straight loss of the season. The Cardinals drop to 5-8-2, while Anna Maria improves to 7-7-2 on the year.
 
HIGHLIGHTS:
  • In a physical 1st period, shots were few and far between as the teams combined for only 16 (9 Wes, 7 AM). Anna Maria College capitalized on the few chances they got however, scoring two goals
  • Their first goal came off of a beautiful centering pass from Cam Tobey to Quinn Tucker who ripped a shot past Nate Romanelli '23, who was making his first start of the year. The second goal came off of a rebound, as Sam Cyr-Ledoux cleaned up the miss to give his team their 2nd goal of the period
  • Andrew Pratt '23 sniped a wrist shot over the right shoulder of Brandon Boncore to cut into the lead just over two minutes into the 2nd. The assists came from Rob Dysart '22 and Danny Sorabella '22, who rushed the puck up the ice giving Pratt a 1 on 1 opportunity
  • Late in the 2nd period Anna Marie's Cam Tobey beat the Wesleyan defense and was alone in front of Romanelli, however the goalie made a tremendous glove save to turn him away
  • Wiggle Kerbrat '23 sliced through the Anna Maria defenseman, dropping off a pass to Tyler Levine who beat the goaltender tying the game early in the 3rd
  • Anna Marie responded just five minutes later with what would end up being the game winner. Derek Raposo sneaked a wrist shot from the blue line past Romanelli, ending the game at 3-2
