MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Wesleyan men's tennis team had a good showing in their last competition of the fall season, with an all-freshmen doubles team taking the title at the Wesleyan Invitational hosted over the weekend.
JT Bilski '26 and
Tai MacDonald '26 represented that title-winning team for the Cardinals, as the pair of first-years knocked off four teams starting with a tight 8-7 win over NCAA Division I Sacred Heart's Antoine Hernandez and Sebastian Colla. Bilski and MacDonald then toppled Julian Wu and Neel Epstein of Middlebury 8-5 in the quarterfinal before taking down Jack Flores and Andrew Mendelson of Bowdoin with another close 8-7 triumph. In the final, the Cardinals dominated Brady Anderson and Jack MacDonald of Babson to the tone of an 8-1 win, capturing the title.
On the singles side of the tournament,
Ben Mitchell '24 landed the only singles victory in the A side of the bracket, defeating Mark Kneiss of Bowdoin 8-4 in the round of 32.
In the B side of the singles bracket,
Clay Gaieski '23 and
Max Lustgarten '25 won round of 32 matches while MacDonald won a round of 16 match. MacDonald fell in his quarterfinal match to Colla of SHU.
