MIDDLETOWN, CT. – Wesleyan men's hockey couldn't hold off No. 7 Endicott, falling in overtime 3-2. The Cardinals held leads on two different occasions in this one, including a one-goal advantage with under five minutes to play, but the Gulls managed a late 3^rd period goal then the game-winner in OT to down the upset-minded Cards. Wesleyan drops their first home game of the season, now 3-1 at Spurrier-Snyder Rink. They drop to 5-2-0 overall, while the nationally ranked Gulls advance to 10-1.

Despite a period-high 11 shots from the Gulls in the first period of this one, the Cardinals held strong behind a solid effort from Erik Voloshin '24. Wesleyan only managed five shots on goal in the first period, with their best chance coming on a nice cross on a two-on-one that was turned away by Endicott's Atticus Kelly.

The second period started with nearly a minute and a half of four-on-four action, but neither team could push through a goal. Wesleyan broke the tie midway through the period however, with Wiggle Kerbrat '23 netting his first of two goals on the night. Kerbrat came across the slot and got his stick on a Emmet Powell '23 shot to redirect it past Kelly to give Wesleyan a 1-0 lead. The lead would not last long for the Cardinals, as the Gulls responded just three minutes later. Connor Beatty tapped in a rocket of a pass that was sent from one side of the net to the other to even the score.

 Endicott began the third period on a power play thanks to a last second penalty in the 2^nd period called on the Cardinals. Wesleyan survived the Gulls' power play chance, as well as another two minutes of penalty killing right after that as they were caught with too many men on the ice. After escaping two power plays against the nationally ranked Gulls, the Cardinals were able to get on the offensive end. Kerbrat delivered his second goal of the night with 10 minutes to go. Ethan Davidson '26 pocked the puck free in the attacking end, which ended up with Kerbrat who beat Kelly five hole to give the Cardinals a 3^rd period lead.

As the clock continued to tick it looked like the Cardinals might be able to pull off the upset, however the 7^th ranked team in the country wasn't going to go out easy. The Gulls found the equalizer with just three minutes to go in regulation. Beatty secured his 2^nd goal of the game, sending the contest into an extra five minutes. Wesleyan opened the overtime period with a 4-on-3 power play, but each of their four shots were turned away, including their final shot of the game which ignited a breakaway for the Gulls. Jackson Sterrett collected the blocked shot and took it the length of the ice finishing past Voloshin to give the Gulls their 10^th win of the year.

Kerbrat scores two goals, his 5^th and 6^th goals of the season. The senior forward now has two two-goal games in his career. Davidson adds his 2^nd assist of the season, while Powell and Go Uemura '23 add their 5^th assists of the season. Uemura has now secured a point in six of seven games this season. Voloshin made 28 saves on the night, Kelly secured 22. Endicott outshot Wesleyan 31-24.

Wesleyan heads into break 5-2 and won't play again for nearly a month. The Cardinals will return to action January 6^th where they will compete against NESCAC foe Middlebury.
