PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – On the final day of team competition for the 2021-22 season, the Wesleyan men's squash team finished strong with a pair of 8-1 wins over Haverford and Conn. College to claim fourth place in the Conroy Cup D Division at the National Intercollegiate Team Tournament on Saturday. Wesleyan (7-8) has one final weekend of competition as the CSA Individual Tournament is set for March 4-6.
 
Wesleyan 8, Haverford 1 | Results

• The bottom of the Cardinal lineup dominated play, as positions #6 through #9 each earned convincing 3-0 sweeps to build an early lead that put the match away early
• Preston Crawford '25 defeated John Collins at #6 by a set score line of 11-8, 11-0, 11-8
• Mikail Haroon '24 took down Alden Weinberg at #7 (11-5, 11-5, 11-3), Morgan Shatzman '25 defeated Aaron Witkin at #8 (11-4, 11-8, 11-6) and Andrew Doucette '22 toppled Zadoc Bond at #9 (11-3, 11-2, 11-5) as Wesleyan led 4-0
• The clinching point came from John Sutherby '23 in the #3 position as it was the fifth 3-0 sweep for Wesleyan but Sutherby had to work in a tightly-contested match with Peter Lehv that the Cardinal ultimately won 11-8, 11-9, 13-11
• Jack Lungstrum '25 continued to pour it on for Wesleyan at #5, defeating Benjamin Schiltz by a score of 3-1 (9-11, 11-7, 11-9, 11-5)
• Wesleyan also went 2-0 in five-set matches in this one as both Abhinav Gupta '25 and Ethan Yan '25 won by 3-2 set scores
• Gupta came back from 2-1 down to defeat Noah Tunis at #2 by a score of 11-9, 8-11, 9-11, 11-7, 11-6 while Yan roared back from two sets down to defeat Minor Reedich at #4 by a score of 8-11, 6-11, 11-8, 11-9, 11-5

• After the morning win over Haverford, the Cardinals met the Camels for an unprecedented fourth time this season, with Wesleyan yet again coming out on top by the same score of 8-1
• The Cardinals recorded seven 3-0 sweeps while Gupta won his match at #2 by a 3-1 score to account for the eight Wesleyan points in the team scoring
• Shatzman dropped just six total points in his 3-0 win at #8 while Doucette dominated with just eight points dropped in a 3-0 victory at #9
• Sutherby, Yan, Lungstrum ,Crawford and Haroon also factored in the 3-0 sweeps over Conn. College
