Men’s Squash Falls to No. 18 Brown on Senior Day

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Wesleyan men's squash team was downed in their regular season finale, 8-1, against No. 18 nationally-ranked Brown on Wednesday night from the Rosenbaum Squash Center. The Cardinals (4-7) now head into the National Team Tournament next weekend in Philadelphia.

Playing in his final home match, Andrew Doucette '22 was honored before the match and responded with a thrilling win in the #9 position over Sam Devorsetz. After winning the first two sets 11-6, 13-11, Doucette saw Devorsetz come back with 11-6, 13-11 victories to force a fifth set tiebreaker. In the deciding set, Doucette pulled out a 11-9 victory to take the match and account for the lone Cardinal point in team scoring on the night.

Other Cardinals to take a set off their opponent included Abhinav Gupta '25 at #2 (13-11 third set win over Blake Roshkoff) while Morgan Shatzman '25 took a set (12-10 second set victory) off of Raphael Benamran at #8.

The Cardinals now head into Nationals where they last appeared in 2020. Wesleyan last won the D Division Championship in 2017 with wins coming over NYU, Bowdoin and Hobart. The Cardinals have won at least one match at Nationals – in the main draw or consolation – every season since 2006.
