Women’s Tennis Continues to Roll, Defeating Haverford 9-0

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. – The No. 5 nationally-ranked Wesleyan women's tennis team continued to roll down in Florida with a 9-0 win over No. 39 Haverford on Thursday afternoon. The Cardinals (4-0) made quick work of the Fords (4-1), dropping just three total games in doubles play while recording six combined 6-0 sweeps in singles action to roll to victory.
 
The nation's fourth-ranked doubles team of Sasha Gaeth '23 and Kristina Yu '22 toppled Rachael Fitzgerald and Anne Tobin at #1 with an 8-2 win while Nika Vesely '25 and Sophie Henderson '22 were flawless in an 8-0 win at #2 over Emily Oh and Mimi Lavin. Venia Yeung '22 and Katie Fleischman '23 took care of business at #3, defeating Abbey Russano and Ellie Esterowitz 8-1.
 
Leading 3-0 heading into singles, it was straight set wins across the board starting with Serim Jin '23 who didn't drop a game in a 6-0, 6-0 victory over Esterowitz at #4. Renna Mohsen-Breen '25 tallied her first career dual match victory, defeating Oh 6-0, 6-0 at #5. Yu took down Lavin at #3 by a 6-2, 6-0 score. Caitlyn Ferrante '23, the nation's 20th ranked singles player, defeated Fitzgerald 6-3, 6-0 at #1 before Caitlin Goldberg '23 defeated Summer Williams 6-1, 6-4 at #6. Fleischman, ranked 27th nationally in singles, finished off the day with a 6-2, 6-2 win at #2 over Russano.
 
Wesleyan looks to remain unbeaten in a big match tomorrow as the Cardinals are set to face No. 18 ranked Kenyon at Noon from Lake Cane Tennis Center.
