CLINTON, N.Y. - The No.5 nationally-ranked Wesleyan women's tennis team took down Hamilton, 5-0, in what was their seventh straight win to start the season. They picked up five wins over the break in Florida, including wins over four nationally ranked teams. Wesleyan then defeated Trinity (9-0) in the NESCAC opener, followed by today's NESCAC victory over Hamilton. Wesleyan moves to 7-0 on the season, and 2-0 in the NESCAC. Hamiton drops to 4-1, 0-1 in the NESCAC.
In doubles play,
Caitlyn Ferrante '23 and
Sasha Gaeth '23 defeated Hannah Apsey and Lauren Holtzman 8-1 at #1.
Nika Vesely '25 and
Sophie Henderson '22 won at #2 over Stephanie Pratt and Claire Cutler 8-1. Lastly, Kristina Lu '22 and
Renna Mohsen-Breen '25 finished at #3 with a 8-0 win over Shannon Cicero and Kat Roberts.
They had another big lead heading into singles play. In singles,
Venia Yeung '22 defeated Holtzman 6-2, 6-3 at #3. Then Mohsen-Breen defeated Cutler at #4 to close out the scoring.
Wesleyan will play again tomorrow the 27
th against Amherst, their third NESCAC game of the year.
