Women’s Squash Falls to No. 6 Cornell, 9-0

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Wesleyan women's squash team dropped a 9-0 decision at the hands of No. 6 nationally ranked Cornell on Friday afternoon from the Rosenbaum Squash Center. The Cardinals (5-6) see their five-match win streak snapped while the Big Red (6-1) rebound after suffering their first loss of the season on Sunday. In what was the first matchup between the two sides since 1999, the Cardinals did well to fight some points off one of the top programs in the country. Portia Pliam '25 led in both the first and second sets while she won 18 total points off Alexis Shatzman who took the match in straight sets, 11-6, 11-7, 11-5 at #3.

Jaclyn Dichter '26 was tied with Devon Shatzman 9-9 in the second set of her match at #5 and won the most total points on the day (19) but she ultimately fell 11-7, 11-9, 11-3. Laila Kewalramani '24 took Ania LaDow into extra points in the third set before dropping a 11-2, 11-4, 12-10 decision.
 
The Cardinals are back in action next weekend with a trip to Tufts on Friday night before returning home for the start of the Little Three Championship. Wesleyan begins with a showdown against Williams at home on Saturday, January 28 before traveling to face Amherst on Sunday, January 29.
