MEDFORD, Mass. – The Wesleyan men's squash team saw their six-match win streak come to an end in a 9-0 loss to No. 14 nationally ranked Tufts on Friday night. Wesleyan drops down to 6-6 on the season while the Jumbos move to 6-5.
In a match that saw Tufts win eight of the nine matches by 3-0 scorelines,
Ethan Yan '25 very nearly pulled at upset win at #6 in his match against Krish Shah. After Shah won the opening set 11-8, Yan bounced back with consecutive set victories at 11-5 and 11-8. Shah rebounded with an 11-8 fourth set win to send this one into an epic decider that went into extra points. Ultimately Shah was victorious to finish the 9-0 sweep for the Jumbos with a 16-14 fifth set win.
Toby Goldston '24 forced Rohan Valia into extra points in the second set of his match at #5 despite losing 3-0 (11-3, 12-10, 11-5).
Zach Idinopulos won 22 total points off Samuel Charlton at #9, representing the most points won by a Cardinal in a single match that was decided in three sets on the night.
Wesleyan next plays host to No. 15 Williams on Saturday at 1 PM before traveling to take on No. 19 Amherst on Sunday in the Little Three Championship.
