MEDFORD, Mass. – The Wesleyan women's squash team dropped a 9-0 decision to No. 11 Tufts on Friday night at the Tufts Squash Center. With the loss, Wesleyan falls to 5-7 on the season while the Jumbos have won five straight, improving to 8-3 in 2022-23.
In a match wherein the Cardinals lost seven of the nine matches by 3-0 decisions,
Sydney Smith '25 made Kate Chang work at #9 in a 3-2 score while
Leandra Sze '26 took one game off Ellyn Xu at #8 in a 3-1 loss.
Smith won the opening game 11-8 in her match before losing the next two 11-9 and 11-6. Needing a win to send the match into a decider, Smith pulled out a 11-7 victory in the fourth game but saw Chang bounce back with a 11-7 victory in the fifth and deciding game.
Sze opened her match with an 11-8 win in the first game and nearly sent the match into a decider, as the fourth game went into extra points before Xu ultimately won 15-13.
Aanya Anand '26 managed 18 total points in a 11-4, 11-7, 11-7 loss to Caroline Chin at #3, representing the most points scored in the 3-0 decisions on the night.
Wesleyan looks to rebound this weekend in the Little Three Championship with the Cardinals hosting No. 13 Williams at 1:00 PM before traveling to No. 17 Amherst on Sunday.
