No. 21 Field Hockey Falls at No. 10 Bates, 3-0

LEWISTON, Me. – The No. 21 ranked Wesleyan field hockey team dropped a 3-0 decision to No. 10 Bates on Sunday afternoon at Campus Avenue Field.

Bates continues to roll, beating the Cardinals for the eighth straight meeting while the Bobcats (7-3, 4-2 NESCAC) are off to their best start in conference play since 2002. Wesleyan (7-4, 4-3 NESCAC) looks to reground next week with a Thursday non-conference game at Wheaton.

After a scoreless first quarter, the Bobcats struck first in the 20th minute on the penalty corner. Anna Cote received the insert and moved quickly to her right. While on the run, Cote fired a shot into the lower left corner of the cage for a 1-0 Bates lead.

Bates added another goal just minutes later, again on the penalty corner. This time it was Pagie Cote who received a pass on the left side of the circle. Cote stepped into her shot and drilled it into the right side of the cage.

The Bobcats added another in the 56th minute, as Ella Blum found Maria Femia who swiped the ball into the cage.

Kenzie Mauro '26 recorded the lone shot on goal for the Cardinals while Audrey Pace '26 made six saves.
