CLINTON, N.Y. – Led by an offensive effort by
Caroline Kee '26 and
Christina Tournas '25, the Wesleyan women's ice hockey team fell in NESCAC action to Hamilton College, 4-2, on Saturday evening from Hamilton's Sage Rink. Kee and Tournas totaled two shots on goal, each with a shot in the first and second period. Kee won seven draws off the face-off.
The Continentals (2-2-0 overall) opened the scoring with an early goal from Abby Smith on a bounced deflection down in front of
Rei Halloran '23. The Cardinals (1-2-0 overall, 1-1-0 NESCAC) wouldn't answer until the second period, but the Cardinals did have the shot advantage, just squeezing by the Continentals with a 9-8 shot count through the first 20 minutes of play.
Tying the game up at one, Kee scored the first goal of the night for the Cardinals at 8:22 of the second period.
Isabelle Allieri '25 kick-started the play, bringing the puck down into the Cardinals attack zone and around the back of the goal for
Dylan Green '26. Keeping possession with a battle at the wall, Green dished the puck out to Kee for the tap in goal. Bobbi Roca responded on behalf of the Continentals two minutes later with her own goal as she caught the puck as it came across the goal line, behind Halloran, and made the shot from the left post.
Christina Tournas tied the game up again for the Cardinals, making quick work of a puck turnover that gave
Beats Tura '27 possession in the neutral zone for
Brigitte Goeler-Slough '23 before finding Tournas across the goal crease with the final shot. Claire McGennis gave the Continentals a 3-2 lead a minute after Tournas' game-tying goal, bringing it all the way into the Cardinals' zone and took the shot from out above the goal crease.
Entering the third period up 3-2, Smith closed the game as she opened it and net a power-play goal from out in front of Halloran.
Green,
Jenna Stevens '24, and Allieri finished with three shots each as the Cardinals were out shot 32-18 overall.
Amelia Molin won 10 of the Cardinals' 27 face-off wins.
Halloran made 28 saves in goal for the Cardinals as Teagan Brown made 16 savesa in goal for Hamilton.
The Cardinals return home on Tuesday, Nov. 28, when they host Castleton at Spurrier-Snyder beginning at 7 p.m.
