Women’s Squash Secures 5-4 Road Win at Brown

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The bottom of the lineup carried the Wesleyan women's squash team to a 5-4 victory at Brown on Saturday afternoon. With the win, the Cardinals improve to 6-9 while the Bears drop to 8-9 on the season. Wesleyan won the match via five wins in the #5 through #9 positions in the lineup, with Marangela James '24 pulling out the clinching point at #7 in a four-set win over Zoya Unni.
 
Laila Kewalramani '24, Jaclyn Dichter '26, Leandra Sze '26, and Sydney Smith '25, each won their matches in 3-0 sweeps, landing enough wins to power the Cardinals past Brown.
 
Kewalramani dominated at #5, defeating Marissa Tam 11-1, 11-6, 11-2 while Smith dropped just eight total points in a 11-6, 11-1, 11-1 win at #9 over Sasha Floru. Dichter took down Mina Bahadori 11-5, 11-5, 11-3 at #6 while Sze secured a 11-3, 11-9, 11-4 victory at #8 over Anji Friedbauer.
 
The match came down to James at #7 and she overcame a first set loss to win the match going away, 9-11, 11-5, 11-2, 11-2, dropping just four total points in the final two sets combined.
 
Wesleyan completes their weekend on Sunday with their final home match of the season. The Cardinals play host to Hamilton at 1 PM.
