No. 12 Men’s Lacrosse Suffers 15-7 Setback at Stevens

HOBOKEN, N.J. – The No. 12 ranked Wesleyan men's lacrosse team suffered a 15-7 defeat at Stevens on Saturday afternoon. Wesleyan (2-1) drops their first game this season while the Ducks (6-1) continue to roll, having won five straight.
 
Stevens took complete control of the game with a 9-0 run between the first and third quarters, holding the Cardinals scoreless for over 23 minutes of play. Stevens outscored Wesleyan 7-0 in the second quarter alone, taking a 10-2 lead into half. The Cardinals cut the deficit to as few as six in the second half but the deficit was too much to overcome.
 
The Cardinals outshot Stevens 43-40 for the game, won the ground ball battle 38-31, and held a 15-10 edge in faceoff wins, but Stevens' goalkeeper Ryan Leahy made 18 saves while the Cardinals managed just eight in the game.
 
DJ Dixon '24 led the way for Wesleyan with three points (two goals, one assist). Pat Doherty '23 added one goal and one assist to go along with two caused turnovers. Kevin Talbot '24 went 8-for-13 at the X with five ground balls. Tyler Campbell '25 went 7-for-12 on his faceoff attempts. Nolan Collins '23 totaled four caused turnovers and two ground balls.
 
Jack Savarese exploded for five goals while Kevin Crowley managed six points (four goals, two assists) for the Ducks.
 
Wesleyan looks to regroup in Florida where the Cardinals take on Salve Regina on Wednesday at 4:00 PM from the Dick Bird South County Park Field in Vero Beach.
