ORLANDO, Fla. – The No. 16 ranked Wesleyan men's tennis team rebounded from yesterday's defeat in a big way, dispatching Stevens by a 9-0 margin on Thursday afternoon. Wesleyan (5-2) is now 3-1 on their Spring Break trip while the Ducks are now 3-5 overall on the season.
The doubles portion was dominated by the Cardinals, who won all three matches by identical 8-3 score lines.
JT Bilski '26 combined with
Ben Mitchell '24 for a win at #1 while
Harry Collomb '26 and
Chase Kasday '26 won at #2 and
Tai MacDonald '26 and
Max Lustgarten '25 completed the sweep at #3.
It didn't take long for Wesleyan to secure the match victory as Mitchell took down Vivek Harinarayan 6-2, 6-0 at #2 while Lustgarten followed with a 6-1, 6-1 win at #5 over Timothy Lau to make it 5-0 Cardinals in the team score.
MacDonald defeated Matt Luzzi 6-1, 6-4 at #4 while Collomb won easily at #3 over Max-Williams Kanz 6-3, 6-4. The two remaining matches both went to three sets but Bilski and
Harry Portnoy '24 both came through with wins to ensure the 9-0 sweep. Bilski defeated Aashi Kulkarni 6-0, 1-6, 6-3 at #1 while Portnoy dispatched Sebastian Wroe 2-6, 6-2, 10-6 at #6.
Wesleyan has a big match to close out the Florida trip as the Cardinals take on No. 2 WashU at 11 AM from the USTA National Campus on Friday.
