Women’s Track & Field Posts Strong Third Place Finish at Tufts Snowflake Classic

MEDFORD, Mass. – The Wesleyan women's track & field team was strong across the board on Saturday, recording 81 team points to take third place out of the 20 teams competing at Tufts' Snowflake Classic. The Cardinals managed two first place finishes on the day, recording wins in the 800m and 4x400m relay. The Cardinals started strong in the sprint events as Grace Devanny '23, Gabby Harris '23, and Augusta Burhans '23 all qualified for the 100m dash finals. Devanny ran the prelims in 12.54, which was the fastest time in a field of 22 competitors. Harris was fourth-fastest while Burhans was sixth. In the finals, Devanny did not compete as she still had the 800m and 4x400m events to run, but Harris impressed with a runner-up finish at 12.77 seconds while Burhans placed sixth with 13.03 seconds.

Devanny certainly made the most of her 800m event, placing first as she crossed the line in 2:18.78. Sarah Schlosberg '25 picked up points for Wesleyan in the team scoring with her seventh-place finish at 2:22.97.

Wesleyan won another event as the Cardinals took the top spot in the 4x400m relay, with Sophia Mack '26, Imagen Walters '26, Kenzie Kelly '25, and Devanny combining for a time of 4:01.63 that beat the runners-up from Conn. College by more than two seconds.

The strongest overall event for Wesleyan on the day was the 1500m, as three Cardinals placed in the event. Jane Hollander '23 was the fastest Cardinal, crossing the line in 4:53.24 to pick up a second-place finish. Stephanie Ager '26 was right behind in third place with a time of 4:56.32 while Nadia Lim '26 placed seventh at 5:00.73.

The 200m dash saw a pair of Cardinals take home Top 5 finishes. Kelly came through with a time of 26.78 seconds that earned her second place while Harris finished her day with a fifth-place finish at 26.98 seconds, giving her two Top 5 finishes.

Maeve Hoffman '23 competed in the 400m as an individual for the first time in her career and she showed very well, placing fourth at 1:00.27. Mack also had a strong showing, placing ninth with her time of 1:02.42.

Miranda Graves '23 posted a time of 18:10.54 in a competitive 5000m event, good enough for fourth place as the top four spots were separated by just six seconds.

Walters came through with a seventh place showing in the 400m hurdles, crossing the line in 1:12.70.

Erika Kluge '23 came up with an impressive third place finish in the pole vault, going for 3.25m in a field of 18 competitors.
