Molly Greer Named NESCAC Player of the Week

Junior midfielder led the Cardinals with 10 points combined in three road wins, two of which coming against ranked NESCAC opponents

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. - Wesleyan women's lacrosse junior midfielder Molly Greer '24 was named the NESCAC Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. This is the first career POW honor for Greer and the first for Wesleyan this season.

Greer enjoyed a breakout week for the Cardinals who won three road games, two of which coming against ranked opponents. Greer opened with a career-high seven points (three goals, four assists) in a 20-13 win at No. 13 Trinity, wherein the Cardinals set a team record for most goals ever scored against a NESCAC opponent. She followed with one goal and one assist to go along with two ground balls and a career-high three caused turnovers in a stellar defensive effort as the Cardinals beat No. 5 Tufts, 14-10, for the first time since 2017. The final game of the week saw Greer score once and add one ground ball in a 11-3 road win at Endicott. In total, Greer more than doubled her point total for the season coming into the week as she started with eight points in the first 10 games of 2023. Her 10 points (five goals, five assists) in three games now puts her at 18 (10 goals, eight assists) on the season.

The Cardinals jumped up to No. 6 in the IWLCA national ranking and have the full week to prepare for a big road contest on Saturday as Wesleyan travels to take on No. 15 Williams with the Little Three Championship on the line.
