Women’s Track & Field Finds Success at Amherst Spring Fling

AMHERST, Mass. – Strong performances across the roster headlined the day for the Wesleyan women's track & field team at the Amherst Spring Fling on Saturday. The Cardinals won two events and saw several personal-bests and a school record broken in the day of competition. Cardinals littered the top performer list in the 100m, headlined by Grace Devanny '23 who won the event with a personal-best time of 12.20 seconds. Gabby Harris '23 also ran a PR at 12.35 seconds which slotted in right behind Devanny in second place overall. Augusta Burhans '23 made it three Cardinals in the top six finishers as her time of 12.68 seconds placed her sixth.

Devanny doubled up with another win, as she topped a field of 36 competitors in the 800m, running the event in 2:15.65. Jane Hollander '23 ran the 800m for just the fourth time in her career and she crossed the line in a career-best 2:16.54 to earn her third place. Jordan Walter '25 gave the Cardinals three in the Top 10 with her seventh-place finish and time of 2:19.77.

Harris and Burhans both came through with strong showings in the 200m as well, with Harris taking fifth place at 26.31 seconds while Burhans was seventh at 26.38.

Kenzie Kelly '25 showed well in her two sprint events, placing fifth overall in the 400m (59.62 seconds) while she was 14th in the 200m (26.83).

Stephanie Ager '26 led the distance contingent with her runner-up finish in the 5000m, crossing the line in a personal-best time of 17:48.17.

The 4x400m relay came down to the wire, with the Cardinals' contingent of Imagen Walters '26, Kate Hausladen '23, Sophia Mack '26, and Devanny combining for a 4:02.09, just behind Amherst's top team who crossed the line in 4:01.34.

Hausladen also impressed in the 400m hurdles, running the event in 1:09.40, good enough for seventh-place.

In the field events, Erika Kluge '23 posted a mark of 3.30m in the pole vault, establishing a new school record in the process. Claire Edwards '24 placed fourth in the discus with 31.67m. Emilia Thornton '24 was eighth-best in the javelin at 29.71m.
