Women’s soccer defeats CMSV, 3-1

RIVERSIDE, N.Y. – For the third consecutive game, the Wesleyan women's soccer team put up three goals as they defeated College of Mount Saint Vincent 3-1 on Saturday afternoon. The Cardinals, led by Waverly Meyers '26, are 4-0 on the season and 2-0 in the NESCAC.

The Dolphins opened the scoring first, getting a goal past Cardinals goalkeeper Juliette Vemmer '26 for the early lead just five minutes into play. Stefanie Stoj '26 responded for the Cardinals at 19:48, tying the game up at one, as Audrey Lavey '23 took the corner kick that found Stoj's right foot for a shot into the left ninety. Five minutes later Lavey took the corner again, resulting in a header goal by Meyers to give the Cardinals a 2-1 lead heading into the half.

At 64:21 of the second half, Riley Buehler '26 sailed in a quick shot from inside the box off a pass from Juliette Sullivan '27, giving the Cardinals their final score of 3-1. Sullivan gained possession left of the goal after Caty Clements '25 sent it into the Dolphins defensive zone from the midfield.

Vemmer and Molly Brumbach '26 each saw 45 minutes of action, combining for three saves on four shots. Brook Frierson made four saves for the Dolphins.

The Cardinals return to action in their home opener on Tuesday, Sept. 19, when they host Vassar College at 7:30 p.m.
