STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Heading out for the first road meet of the season, the Wesleyan women's track & field team showed well at the NYC Gotham Cup held on Friday at the Ocean Breeze Complex. The Cardinals competed against athletes across all three NCAA Divisions in a non-team scoring event.
Elanora Smith '27 landed a Top 10 finish, placing sixth overall out of 20, in the 1000m as she clocked in at 3:02.55.
Stephanie Ager '26 also placed in the Top 10, earning a seventh place result in the mile with her time of 5:07.32.
Juliette Sullivan '27 continues to shine early on in the season, as the first-year placed 12
th in the 60m dash with a time of 8.08 seconds while she set a new season-best time of 25.95 seconds to place 11
th in the 200m.
Sophia Mack '26 ran the 200m in a personal-best time of 26.71 seconds, finishing 19
th overall. Mack also finished 19
th in the 400m (1:01.33).
Margaret Stevens '27 led the Cardinal contingent in the 800m (2:28), earning a 17
th place finish out of 39 runners.
Maggie Smith '27 was 10
th-best out of 17 runners in the 3000m, crossing the line in 11:05.29.
Wesleyan's distance medley relay team earned a third place finish out of six teams, as the group of Smith, Stevens,
Nadia Lim '26, and
Kate Hausladen '23 managed a time of 13:02.44.
Fiona Carroll '25 finished second out of four in the pole vault, landing a 3.15m before posting 3.25m in a jump off that decided first place.
Claire Edwards '24 placed 14
th in the shot put (8.60m) while
Emilia Thornton '24 also placed 14
th in the weight throw (9.66m).
Wesleyan is back at home for their next meet which is slated for next Saturday at 10 AM from the Bacon Field House.
