Women’s Squash Falls to No. 13 Amherst, 8-1

MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Wesleyan women's squash team won at least one set in four of the nine matches, giving No. 13 ranked Amherst a tough match, but the Mammoths prevailed in an 8-1 win for the visitors on Tuesday night from the Rosenbaum Squash Center. The Cardinals managed to get one point in team scoring thanks to Leandra Sze '26 who took down Maggie Pearson in a 3-1 win at #7. Sze took the first and third set by identical 11-5 scores and then came through in extra points in the fourth set, winning 16-14 to take the match.

Mira Bakshi '26 played well at #1, giving Callie Delalio trouble in three of the four sets including a 11-9 first set win for the Cardinal sophomore. Delalio, however, proved too much in the end as she won three straight sets including a match-clinching 12-10 fourth set win.

Aanya Anand '26 won a set in her match at #4, as did Laila Lewalramani '24 at #6. Kewalramani competed, giving Isabelle Tilney-Sandberg a 36-minute match – the longest of the night – but ultimately it finished in a loss for the Cardinal senior, 13-11, 6-11, 10-12, 5-11.

Julissa Mota '26 took home a win at the #10 position, defeating Lily Thomas in four sets 11-4, 11-8, 4-11, 11-3.

The Cardinals are back in action with their final home match of the season on Saturday at 1 PM against No. 19 Bates.
