Women Basketball Tripped Up at Hamilton, 65-47

CLINTON, N.Y. – The Wesleyan women's basketball team fell on the road in NESCAC play, dropping a 65-47 decision to Hamilton on Saturday afternoon. The Cardinals (10-8, 1-5 NESCAC) remain winless on the road in league play while the Continentals (15-6, 3-4 NESCAC) improve to 7-2 at home in 2023-24.

Wesleyan scored the first four points of the game, but just two points in the remainder of the first quarter doomed the Cardinals as Hamilton led 13-6 after the first quarter and took a 31-16 lead into halftime. Wesleyan shot just 6-for-32 from the floor in the first half.

Wesleyan outscored Hamilton 15-13 in the third quarter, trimming the deficit to nine points at one point late in the frame on a Maggie Lee '23 three-pointer, but Emily Hall responded with two baskets in the final minute and the Continentals led by double-digits all throughout the fourth quarter.

Felicia Fongemie '27 was the lone Cardinal in double figures as she finished with 12 points and five rebounds in 36 minutes. Alana Jones '24 went for nine points and six rebounds while Lee and Alli Jones '27 each scored eight.

Hall led the Continentals with 19 points, five rebounds, and five assists while Taylor Lambo recorded 18 points (6-9 FG) with eight rebounds, two blocks, and two steals off the bench.

Next up for Wesleyan is a four-game home stand, starting with a Friday night showdown against Middlebury with tip-off at 7 PM.
