BRUNSWICK, ME. – In their first NESCAC match of the 2024, the Wesleyan women's squash team fell 6-3 to No. 18 Bowdoin College on Saturday afternoon from Bowdoin's Lubin Family Squash Center. The Cardinals a 4-4 on the season.

Penelope Furnas '27 defeated Skyler Spaulding in the second longest match of the afternoon, running the gambit for a 30-minute match. Going four sets, Furnas picked up three set wins, 11-4, 12-10, 5-11, and 11-9.
In her first showing of the season at #8,
Portia Pliam '25 picked up her first win defeating Janie Lytle in four sets as well. Pliam fell in the first set 8-11, but ran the final three sets 12-10, 11-2, and 11-9.
The final win of the afternoon came courtesy of
Marangela James '24 at #9 in four sets. Going 11-5 and 11-2 through the first two sets, James fell 6-11 in the third before a 12-10 fourth set comeback.
The Cardinals return to the court on Wednesday, Jan. 10, when they head to Connecticut College with action beginning at 2 p.m.
