Gage Hammond '27 was named the NESCAC Special Teams Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. This is Hammond's first career weekly award.
Hammond handled all kicking duties for the Cardinals in Wesleyan's 17-14 win at Bowdoin on Saturday. The sophomore hit a career-long 37-yard field goal in his only attempt and was 2-for-2 on PATs. Hammond punted nine times with five punts pinning Bowdoin inside its own 20-yard line, including a long of 54 yards. Hammond also kicked off four times for an average of 58.0 yards with two kickoffs going for touchbacks.
The Cardinals (5-1) are back in action with a Little Three showdown at Amherst on-deck.
