POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Wesleyan women's squash team made quick work of Vassar College on Sunday morning, sweeping Vassar 9-0 in the second matchup of the weekend with all nine wins ending in 3-0 victories. The Cardinals shut the door on the opening weekend with a 2-0 record.
While no match lasted longer than 20 minutes,
Portia Pliam '25 did not care to extend her games any longer than necessary as she picked up the 3-0 win in just nine minutes. In the No. 7 slot, Pliam went 11-1, 11-0, 11-0 over Perla Leal.
Leandra Sze '26 defeated Ruby Shang at No. 6, going 11-3, 11-0, 11-4 in 11 minutes.
Aanya Anand '26 picked up her second win of the weekend at No. 3 to down Sarah Boucher-Rowe in 11-0, 11-9, 11-1 fashion. At No. 5,
Rachel Matamoros '24 was sure to keep Lexi Donshik from any real chances of comeback, picking up 11-1, 11-4, 11-4 game victories.
Jaclyn Dichter '26 gave herself a 2-0 record on the weekend with a win over Sophia Choudhri. Dichter's wins came in 13 minutes with 11-2, 11-4, and 11-2 game wins.
Mira Bakshi '26 at the top of the lineup was good for 11-4, 11-2, 11-4 game wins over Adriana Ordaya. Closing out the sweeps for the Cardinals,
Avika Pande '26 at No. 2 traveled 11-2, 11-4, 11-7 through her games to put away Charlotte Tobin.
The Cardinals return to the court on Saturday, Nov. 23, when they host Bard College at the Rosenbaum Squash Center beginning at 12:30 p.m.
