MIDDLETOWN, Conn. – The Wesleyan women's squash team made quick work in a Saturday afternoon match against Bard, defeating the Raptors 9-0 from the Rosenbaum Squash Center. With the win, the Cardinals improve to 3-0 on the season.
Competing for the first time at home in the 2024-25 season, Wesleyan landed a perfect win, with all nine matches ending in 3-0 wins for the Cardinals. In addition, all nine matches finished in 15 minutes or less in a dominating display from Wesleyan's lineup.
Both
Mira Bakshi '26 and
Portia Pliam '25 dropped just two points in their respective matches, as Bakshi defeated Tarana Downer 11-0, 11-1, 11-1 at #1 while Pliam took down Victoria Bagatcholon 11-0, 11-2, 11-0 at #8.
Sydney Smith '25 posted a 11-0, 11-2, 11-1 win at #9 in a match that lasted just 10 minutes.
Avika Pande '26,
Aanya Anand '26, and
Katherine Risden '28 lost just four points each in their matches at #2, #3, and #6, respectively. Pande needed just 10 minutes to defeat Nioby Rodriguez 11-1, 11-1, 11-2 while Anand defeated Thenuri DeSilva by the same score line. Risden won by match 11-0, 11-4, 11-0 in 10 minutes against Thelma Williams.
Rounding out the wins on the day for Wesleyan was
Leandra Sze '26 in a 11-1, 11-3, 11-2 victory at #7 while
Rachel Matamoros '28 won 11-3, 11-4, 11-4 at #5 while
Jaclyn Dichter '26 was victorious at #4 by a 11-3, 11-5, 11-3 score.
Wesleyan is back at home on Sunday with an 11 AM start against NYU from the Rosenbaum Squash Center.
