PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Wesleyan men's squash team opened the CSA Divisional Team Championship Conroy Cup (D Division) with a 9-0 sweep of Vassar in round robin play. The Cardinals (6-11) are now guaranteed at least a spot in the 3
rd place match of the Conroy Cup and will advance to the 1
st place match if Wesleyan defeats Fordham on Saturday.
The Cardinals cruised past the Brewers, with eight of the nine wins coming in 3-0 sweeps.
Nimai Kini '26 kick started the win with a 11-2, 11-5, 11-3 triumph over Rithik Jalali at #1.
Abhinav Gupta '25 posted the only non-sweep victory on the day for Wesleyan, as he took down Jay Vashisht at #2, 11-6, 11-7, 7-11, 11-5.
Toby Goldston '24 prevailed in the longest match of the day at #3, getting past Konstantinos Georgallides 11-5, 15-13, 11-7.
Dhairya Shah '27 dropped just 11 total points as he cruised past Luke Chen at #4, 11-8, 11-1, 11-2.
Ethan Yan '25 won his match at #5 over Jarid Haslinger 11-7, 11-7, 11-4 while
Preston Crawford '24 dealt Razaan Lalji a 11-7, 11-4, 11-8 defeat at #6.
Morgan Shatzman '25 made quick work in his match at #7 against Patrick Looby, winning 11-4, 11-5, 11-6.
Jack Lungstrum '25 prevailed at #8 against Kyle Benson, 11-5, 11-5, 11-2 and
Cole Zetterquist '24 defeated Gabriel Lugo in a competitive match at #9, 14-12, 13-11, 11-5.
Wesleyan advances to face Fordham in the final match of Pool A round robin play on Saturday. The Cardinals have won 12 straight matches against the Rams dating back to 1996, with Wesleyan earning 9-0 sweeps in six of the last seven meetings.
