AUSTIN, TX – Now 4-0 on the season, the Wesleyan women's tennis team put away a 9-0 sweep of No. 22 Swarthmore in the second matchup of their Spring Break play in Texas on Wednesday evening from the Austin Tennis Academy courts. This is their third shutout since the spring portion of the season began with six athletes undefeated in singles play.
Coming back from 7-2 win on Tuesday morning, the Cardinals came back ready to claim every point against the Garnet and made it snappy as no match went to a third set. In the No. 1 spot,
Caitlyn Ferrante '24 downed Lola Diaz in a 6-3, 6-0 win.
Sarah Youngberg '26 defeated Jenny Lewis 6-2, 6-3 at No. 2.
Leila Epstein '26 came away with a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Oviya Kumaran in the No. 3 slot. With two clean sets,
Jackie Soloveychik  '27 finished off Kathleen Shiffer, 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4. A 6-1, 6-2 win went to
Lane Durkin '27 as she defeated Erica Stutz in the No. 4 spot. At No. 6,
Renna Mohsen-Breen '25 beat Katherine Zawada in a final 6-1, 7-5 match.
The No. 1 doubles pairing of Ferrante and Youngberg defeated Kumaran and Spencer Watts, 8-4. Soloveychik and Epstein at No.2 beat Shiffer and Stutz with a 8-1 win. And Mohsen-Breen and Durkin put away a 8-5 match win over Diaz and Eda Mkekiqi. Soloveychik and Epstein and Mohsen-Breen and Durkin are undefeated in doubles play through four matches.
The Cardinals return to action on Friday, March 15, when they face No. 29 South Western in Georgetown, TX, beginning at 11 a.m.
