MIDDLETOWN, CT. – Defying the typical New England spring weather, sophomore
Stephanie Ager '26 broke a 17-year school record in the 10,000m event, claiming first place with a personal best 35:57.22 as she led the Wesleyan women's track and field team with just one of five first-place finishes for Wesleyan as they played host to the J. Elmer Swanson Spring Classic on Saturday afternoon at the Anderson Track.
Ager's 35:57.22 breaks the previous school record of 36.20.77 set by Wesleyan Hall of Fame runner, Ellen Davis '07. Davis, the 2007 NCAA Championship Indoor 5000m Champion was a five-time All-American and set the record in her final season at Wesleyan in 2007.
Battling the wind and rain all through the afternoon, Sullivan opened the Cardinals' home meet with two first-place victories as she ran a personal best time of 12.98 in the 100m before claiming the 200m with a final 27.50.
Continuing the Cardinals' domination in distance events,
Jordan Walter '25 was the next race with for the Cardinals as she claimed first in the 1500m, crossing the line at 4:48.52.
The final winning placement went to
Kate Hausladen '23 in the 400m hurdles, running a final 1:07.32.
The Cardinals took five Top 10 placements in the 3000m as
Margaret Stevens '27 led the pack with a second-place finish, running a personal-best final time of 20:25.92.
Alexandra Simon '27 took fourth at 10:43.60.
Nadia Lim '26 was fifth with a time of 11:02.70.
Rose Halford '27 ran a personal best 11:05.40 for sixth place, and
Quinn Meinhardt '24ran a personal best 11:18.66 for eighth place.
Hauslauden finished 10
th behind Sullivan in the 200m with a 29.59.
Second place in the 400m went to
Sophia Mack '26, crossing the finish line with a final 1:02.00.
In the 800m,
Stella Loezos '27 took 12
th place with a time of 2:37.47 and was followed by Maya Nikourkari '26 in 13
th place with a 2:41.56.
Oona Vali '27 was 13
th in the 1500m behind Walter with a personal best of 5:16.65.
Taking fourth place in the 400m hurdles,
Imagen Walters '26 finished two places behind Hausladen with a 1:12.75.
Naomi McGadney '27 placed fourth in the women's high jump with a personal best of 1.27m. McGadney also placed 10
th in the javelin throw with another personal best distance of 26.03m.
Emelia Thornton '24 threw for a 27.44m that was good for seventh place in the javelin throw. Thornton took 12
th in the hammer throw with a 26.92m final.
The Cardinals return to action on Saturday, March 30, when they head to Tufts for the Snowflake Classic.
