MEDFORD, MA. – Led by
Juliette Sullivan '27 with a first-place finish in the long jump, the Wesleyan women's track and field team placed fifth out of a field of 20 schools on Saturday afternoon at the Tufts University Snowflake Classic as they dominated the 800m event and finished with 21 Top 20 finishes.
Sullivan took the top placement in the long jump with a final distance of 5.05 meters. Sullivan also placed second in the 100m race, crossing the finish line at 12.64.
In the 200m,
Sophia Mack '26 placed eighth with a time of 26.52 while
Naomi McGadney '27 finished in 19
th at 27.64. Mack placed again in the 400m, taking third with a 1:01.85.
The Cardinals held strong in the 800m race with
Jordan Walter '25 leading the charge with a third-place finish at 2:20.21.
Alexandra Simon '27 was 12
th (2:26.75),
Margaret Stevens '27 was 13
th (2:27.14), and
Oona Vali '27 was 18
th (2:29.33).
Stevens was the Cardinals highest placement in the 1500m at sixth, climbing the board with a final 4:54.01. Simon followed in ninth (4:58.02), and
Nadia Lim placed 18
th (5:10.00).
Kate Hausladen '23 ran the women's 400m hurdles, taking third place with a time of 1:01.83.
Imagen Walters '26 was sixth, clocking a 1:10.15.
Fiona Carroll '25 placed third in the pole vault at 3.40 meters.
McGadney had two more placements in the field events, finishing 16
th in the shot put at 8.86 meters and in the javelin throw she finished 16
th again with a final distance of 26.06 meters.
Claire Edwards '24 had two Top 20 finishes in the field as well, placing 19
th in the shot put at 8.62 meters. Edwards placed third in the discus throw with a distance of 34.16 meters.
In the javelin throw,
Emilia Thornton '24 finished sixth, coming in with a distance of 30.22 meters.
In the 4x400m relay, Vali,
Jane Kakalec '26,
Stella Loezos '27, and
Virginia Lustenberger '26 placed 10
th with a combined 4:28.82.
The Cardinals return to action on Saturday, April 6, when they head to Amherst for the Amherst Spring Fling meet.
