Men’s tennis triumphs over Colby, 5-4

Box Score OAKLAND, ME. – In a NESCAC matchup that was led by Ben Mitchell '24 with victories at No. 1 doubles and No. 2 singles, the Wesleyan men's tennis team left Maine with a 5-4 victory over Colby College on Sunday evening, winning their fifth of the season.

The men kickstarted the afternoon with a point the No. 1 doubles pairing of JT Bilski '26 and Mitchell as the duo came away with a 8-3 win over Jake Cohen and Sam Henry. A second doubles win went to Harry Collomb '26 and Max Lustgarten '25 as the No. 2 pairing, coming away with a 8-5 defeat over Sandeep Alapati and Paul Dandler.

Two of the three singles victories for the Cardinals went to three sets, posing a fight that the Cardinals were ready for. At No. 2, Mitchell defeated Cohen again with a 6-3, 3-6, 7-6 (7-5), winning sets one and three as Cohen forced the tiebreaker. Brett Keeling '27 went head-to-head with Henry in a 6-4, 6-7 (8-10), 6-3 final matchup that saw Keeling take sets one and three after falling to Henry in set two. The final match point for the Cardinals went to Max Litton '26 in the No. 4 spot against Dandler, winning with a 7-6 (8-6), 6-0.

The Cardinals wrap up the regular season next Sunday, April 28, at 10 a.m. when they host Conn. College at the John Wood Memorial Tennis Courts.
