Steph Ager wins 10K at NESCAC Championships

MEDFORD, MA. – The Wesleyan women's track and field team made a strong showing at the NESCAC Championships on Saturday at Tufts University as the team was led by sophomore Stephanie Ager '26 bring home the top finish in the women's 10K, earning All-NESCAC honors for the first time in track and field. Wesleyan finished with 32 points in ninth place as Middlebury won the NESCAC title. Wesleyan claimed nine Top 10 placements.

Ager took home the top prize in the women's 10,000-meter distance event with a final time of 35:24. 21, a new school record as she broke her previous record time by nearly 33 seconds. Ager's previous time of 35:57.22 broke a 17-year record previously held by Wesleyan Hall of Famer Ellen Davis '07.

Claire Edwards '24 also earns All-NESCAC honors, placing third in the discus throw as she finished with a final distance of 36.13 meters. Edwards also placed 18th in the shot put at 9.61m.

In the 400m, Sophia Mack '26 finished in 15th place with a final time of 59.82.

Jordan Walter '25 crossed the finish line of the 800m in 10th place, clocking in at a 2:17.59.

The Cardinals made good show in the 1500m as Walter led a pack of Cardinals with a fourth-place finish at 4:39.92. Margaret Stevens '27 was ninth at 4:47.13. Oona Vali '27 finished in 18th with a 5:00.17. And Quinn Meinhardt '24 finished up at 19th, running a 5:02.42.

In the 5K, Rose Halford '27 clocked a Top 20 finish as she came in at 13th, with a 18:41.10.

Kate Hausladen '23 placed sixth in the women's 400m hurdles, coming in at a final 1:05.17. Imagen Walters '26 finished in 18th at 1:09.10.

Alexandra Simon '27 ran a 11:26.68 in the 3000m steeple chase, placing sixth. Nadia Lim '26 was six runners back at 12th with a time of 12:01.41.

A final height of 3.25m placed Fiona Carroll '25 in ninth in the pole vault. Juliette Sullivan '27 placed sixth at 5.45m in the long jump.

 Naomi McGadney '27 finished just outside the Top 10 in the javelin throw at 11th with 34.01m. Emilia Thornton '24 finished in 15th with 27.65m. Thornton also placed 15th in the hammer throw, coming in at 32.37m.

The 4x100m relay team of McGadney, Mack, Sullivan and Rachel Masterson '26 combined for seventh place with a time of 50.17. And the 4x800m relay team of Jane Kakalec '26, Stella Loezos '27, Hausladen, and Stevens ran a 10:08.70, good for 10th place.

The team will prep this week for the New England Division III Championships, on Friday, May 3, through Saturday, May 4.
