AMHERST, MA. – The Wesleyan women's track and field team made good showing on Sunday afternoon at the Amherst Spring Fling meet as
Juliette Sullivan '27 and
Margaret Stevens '27 lead the team with second and third place finishes respectively as the team collected 20 Top 20 placements with eight reaching the Top 10.
While normally a top qualifier in the 100m and 200m races, Sullivan turned her talents to the long jump and took second place, finishing with a distance of 5.35m. In a stacked 5000m race, Stevens placed third, crossing the finish line at 17.51.40.
Rex Beaver '26 finished in 14
th in the 100m, finishing at 13.24. In the 200m, Sullivan took fifth at 26.06 and was followed by
Sophia Mack '26 in 13
th with a 26.97.
Mack placed eighth in the 400m at 1:01.59.
Kate Hausladen '23 was 11
th with a 1:02.44. In 12
th,
Rachel Masterson '26 crossed at 1:02.52.
Stella Loezos '27 was 16
th in the 800m with a 2:30.18.
Jane Kakalec '26 was right on her heels in 17
th with a 2:30.19.
Virginia Lustenberger '26 finished 18
th at 2:31.20.
In the 1500m,
Stephanie Ager '26 ran a 4:47.90 for a ninth-place final.
The Cardinals saw three more finishes behind Stevens in the in the 5000m with
Alexandra Simon '27 running a 18:26.70 for eighth.
Rose Halford '27 was ninth with a final 18:31.02. And
Nadia Lim'26 was 11
th at 18:42.12.
Hausladen placed again in the 400m hurdles, taking seventh with a time of 1:08.04. In 11
th,
Imagen Walters '26 ran a 1:10.13.
In the pole vault, the Cardinals saw
Fiona Carroll '25 place fourth at 3.40m.
Behind Sullivan in the long jump was
Naomi McGadney '27 in 15
th place with a distance of 4.67m.
Finally,
Claire Edwards '24 threw for 30.27m in the discus, placing 19
th.
The Cardinals return to action on Friday, April 12, and Saturday, April 13, when they head to Smith College for the Smith College Invite.
