SPRINGFIELD, MA. – Closing out the final non-conference matchup of the regular season, the Wesleyan men's soccer team put away a 2-0 shutout of Springfield College on Tuesday night, extending the team's unbeaten streak to seven games with goals from
Yousuf Saeed '27 and
Riley Harvey '29 from Springfield's Irv Schmid Sports Complex.
Heading north for a weeknight road matchup, the Cardinals continued to build upon the ongoing stroke of success as they entered the game ranked 12
th in the nation. With
Josh Nadison '26 in goal, the Cardinals took 20 minutes to gather themselves and broke open the scoring thanks to the efforts of Harvey.
Marked for a corner kick with
Joshwin Jennings '27 set to start the play, Jennings' shot tumbled to the feet of
Aiden Londergan '27 before Harvey was able to corral the ball inside the scrum and line up a shot into the right corner. The ball just missed the fingertips of Pride goalkeeper Noah Pote.
The Cardinals held a mild shot margin over the Pride for the remainder of the first half and entered the second half of play with a one-goal advantage. At 56:48, the Cardinals struck again, this time with Saeed on the ball. With another corner kick lined up, Jennings connected with Saeed in the air on an attempted header, Saeed's initial shot saved on a diving play by Pote. Pote did not have control of the ball and Saeed was able to charge the net and score on the rebound.
Nadison earned his first win in goal for the Cardinals this season, finishing the night with four saves. Pote closed the game with six saves in net for the Pride.
The Cardinals return to action on Saturday, Oct. 18, to honor the Class of 2025 as they host Bowdoin College at 1:30.
